Every solid build starts before the first foundation pour. It starts at the entrance. A construction entrance might not get a lot of attention, but skip it or cut corners on it and you'll feel it fast - muddy roads, rutted access points, equipment bogging down, and a messy site that slows everything else.

Here's what we were working with on this one in Ocoee, TN - a densely wooded hillside with no real access from the road. That meant we had to go in and clear the way first. Our excavation work cut into the slope and carved out a clean path that connects directly to the road. That kind of work takes precision. You're dealing with grade, drainage, and soil stability all at once.

Once the cut was made, we laid in compacted gravel to create a stable, all-weather surface. That gravel base keeps equipment moving in and out without chewing up the ground or dragging debris onto the road. It also helps manage runoff - which matters a lot on a sloped, wooded site like this one. The geotextile fabric underneath keeps the gravel locked in and the subgrade from shifting under load.

The result is a functional, durable entry point that sets the whole site up for success. Everything that comes next - whether that's full land clearing, grading, or foundation work - flows better when the access is solid from day one. That's exactly why we treat construction entrances as a real part of the job, not an afterthought.

If you've got raw land and a build in mind, this is where it starts. Good site prep isn't just about moving dirt. It's about setting the right foundation for everything that follows.
